Activities

We have a wide variety of activities available on site, both adventurous and traditional scouting type, and something for all ages and abilities.

If it is adventure your group is looking for, then our team of highly trained, enthusiastic instructors will ensure that the sessions are safe and fun. if you're wanting to do more traditional scouting activities, then come and talk to us about your wishes and we can make suggestions for what and where.

Instructor Lead Activities

Abseiling

We have a purpose built abseil tower on site and a team of highly trained, enthusiastic instructors who will ensure that the session is both safe and fun.

This activity is available for participants aged 8 and upwards.

We will do what we can to accomodate any additional needs requirements, but this must be discussed with the activity team in advanced. Please contact us if you have any questions.

  

Air Rifle Shooting

We have an indoor 10m, eight lane air rifle shooting range, complete with .177 PCP (Pre Charged Pneumatic) air rifles. Qualified instructors are available to instruct or qualified leaders may run their own session. All under-18s must have parental permission (Click Here for form).

Beavers require 1-to-1 supervision
Cubs require 1-to-2 supervision

Archery

With both an indoor and outdoor range, we are able to offer Archery throughout the year. Our friendly team of enthusiastic, experienced instructors are there to make sure that the session is safe and fun.

There are also opportunities throughout the year to take part in our Master of Arms courses. Please contact the Archery Team for more details.

Climbing

After completing our new climbing wall during April 2016, we are now able to offer climbing activities for all abilities. Our indoor bouldering wall is excellent for Beaver Scouts, our medium sized outdoor climbing wall is excellent for cubs and scouts wishing to try something a little more challenging... and for the next step, we have our larger (10m high) brand new climbing wall.

We will do what we can to accomodate any additional needs requirements, but this must be discussed with the activity team in advanced. Please contact us if you have any questions.

  

Leader Lead Activities

Beaver/Cub Assault Course

Our Beaver Assault Course offers various elements including a small climbing wall and a tree fort. It is an excellent mini-adventurous activity for the younger members (up to 8yrs).

This activity is a Group Leader supervised activity - a responsible adult must be present while this activity is being used.

Main Assault Course

Our main assault course offers various elements requiring either strength, balance or a combination of the two. It is an excellent activity for promoting team work in your group.

This is a Group Leader Supervised activity - a responsible adult must be present at all times while this activity is being used.

Low Ropes

Our Low Ropes course incorporates the elements you would typically find on a high ropes course, but without the large distance from the ground! The elements on our course require balance and encourage the participants work as a team to solve the problems of how to get from one end of the course to the other.

This activity is a Group Leader supervised activity - a responsible adult must be present while this activity is being used.

Black Hole

The Black Hole is our artificial caving system. This activity is only available between April - October.

Helmets are provided for participants for this activity, but head torches are not provided.

Bouldering

Bouldering is an excellent activity to encourage team work within your unit. At Drum Hill Scout Camp, we have an indoor bouldering wall, and the outdoor climbing boulder which can both be used for this... meaning that this activity is available all-year-round.

This activity is a Group Leader supervised activity - a responsible adult must be present while this activity is being used.

Traditional Scouting

Backwoods Cooking

We have stone alter fires all over the site, available for use by groups. You are required to bring your own firewood and fire starting materials.

Fire grates can be provided on request.

Orienteering

We have a number of orienteering routes around the site which can be completed by young people of varying ages and abilities. For beavers and younger cubs, we have a picture based course which works more like a treasure hunt. For the older cubs and above, there are more traditional orienteering courses of varying lengths and difficulties.

Pioneering

Our well stocked pioneering store has enough equipment to construct many complex projects such as bridges, towers, catapults and swings.
